A tragic incident unfolded this week in Oceanside as a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Monday. According to the Oceanside Police Department, the collision occurred near the intersection of Mission Avenue and Francesca Drive around 6:46 p.m.
The deceased, identified only as a male Oceanside resident, was hit by an eastbound black Chevrolet Tahoe. Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene, and they performed lifesaving measures; however, the individual was pronounced dead at the location. The driver of the vehicle was present when officers arrived and is said to have cooperated with the subsequent investigation, during which drugs and alcohol were not considered contributing factors.
The investigation remains active as the Oceanside Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team continues to delve deeper into the specifics of the collision. In the meantime, details regarding the identity of the victim are withheld as authorities are in the process of informing the next of kin.
