Yesterday, a 38-foot sailboat found itself amid peril at Harbor Beach in Oceanside, CA. According to a social media post from the Oceanside Lifeguards, the Oceanside Fire Department and Oceanside Lifeguards were summoned to an ocean rescue after the vessel encountered large breaking waves near the entrance to Oceanside Harbor.
The boat, caught in the surf line just as it attempted to enter the harbor, was quickly pushed closer to shore, endangering the two occupants aboard. The Oceanside Fire Department reports that the incident occurred at approximately 1811, with first responders arriving by 1818. Both a firefighter and a member of the Marine Safety Unit (MSU) acted as rescue swimmers, braving tough conditions to reach the stranded sailors.
Successfully, the two individuals were escorted back to land without injury. On-site paramedics conducted assessments; the findings corroborated, no one was harmed.
