A shooting in Pompano Beach yesterday evening has resulted in one fatality and one person injured, as confirmed by Broward Sheriff's Office reports. The incident took place near the 600 block of West Sample Road at approximately 7:30 p.m. according to NBC Miami. Deputies arriving at the scene and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue found a man, later identified as 52-year-old Tyrone Holton, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Local authorities received notification of the shooting through a flurry of 911 calls. Despite being found with life-threatening injuries and promptly transported to a nearby hospital, Holton succumbed to his wounds. Local 10 reported that a second victim, also suffering from gunshot injuries was delivered to the hospital by someone else, later learned by deputies.
The scene of the crime, which included a McDonald's and an Ampm convenience store, was cordoned off by deputies as part of the crime scene investigation. While the McDonald's where the shooting occurred is usually open 24 hours, it shut down early the night of the shooting at around 8:30 p.m., as stated by NBC Miami.
The Homicide and Crime Scene units of the BSO are delving into the circumstances behind the shooting. With the morning light, the McDonald's resumed its operations the following day. No information regarding potential suspects or additional details about the victims has been released.
