A pedestrian was critically injured Thursday evening after being struck by an SUV on DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Lake View, police said. The collision occurred around 9 p.m. in the 3600 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, a light-colored SUV operated by a 26-year-old woman ran a red light and hit the woman as she was crossing the street.
The victim, whose identity hasn't been released, was quickly taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center to immediately undergo treatment and is reportedly in critical condition. Meanwhile, FOX 32 Chicago reported that the driver of the SUV has been issued several citations in connection with the incident.
The collision is being investigated by CPD's Major Accidents Unit to thoroughly understand all contributing factors.
