Andre D. Johnson, 41, faces charges of Home Invasion and Domestic Battery after a violent incident at the residence of his ex-girlfriend this past weekend in Peoria. The Peoria County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Johnson will remain in custody until trial, as per a detention hearing where the State's Petition to Detain was granted.
Authorities were called to the scene early in the morning on November 9, where a female witness, reportedly the sister of the victim, described a man assaulting her sibling. The officers, acting on a disturbance report, found Johnson on top of the woman, who was identified as his ex-girlfriend, in the 1200 block of N. Orange Street in West Bluff, an area not unaccustomed to police activity.
During the encounter, police had to intervene and detach Johnson from the victim. As reported by Peoria County's official alert, his ex-girlfriend recounted a terrifying ordeal where Johnson forcibly removed an air conditioning unit, gained entry through the window, and began to physically attack her.
Investigators at the scene documented the victim's injuries. This case remains under investigation, while law enforcement officials urge anyone with relevant information to make contact. The Peoria Police Department is actively seeking assistance from the public, urging those who might know more to step forward and reach out at 309-673-4521. The gravity of domestic disturbances, often hidden behind closed doors, is illustrated in this case, even as the community seeks answers and safety for the victim.
