Destrehan residents and those traveling through the area are advised of ongoing and upcoming road closures that have and will affect the flow of traffic in St. Charles Parish. As reported on the St. Charles Parish website, several routes will continue to be closed or are slated for closure due to road construction and other related work.
Currently, Jonathan Street in Destrehan will remain completely inaccessible until a yet to be determined time. The closure is comprehensive, granting only emergency vehicles the permission to utilize the Bunge's heavy haul road as a detour to reach Noel Street by bypassing Lorraine Street. Travelers typically using this route will need to adjust their plans accordingly.
In addition, Ormond Center Court is experiencing barricades from 150 Ormond Center Court (Reginelli's), stretching to 3001 Ormond Blvd (Buddy's Frostop). For those who frequent this stretch, a detour is operational, allowing vehicles to still pass through the area. Such disruptions are an imposition, yet necessary for the infrastructure upgrades taking place.
For those commuting via LA 628 (CC Road), be prepared to face full closure in both the northbound and southbound directions. This long-term disruption, beginning October 24 and set to conclude on November 21, 2025, is caused by the Montz Pump Station Permit Project and LA 628 Roadway Construction. Motorists have been advised to use US 61, LA 3217, or LA 628 (River Rd) to go around the closure.
The St. Charles Parish advisory also details a complete shutdown of both westbound and eastbound LA 18 (River Rd), starting from November 10 through November 21, during the hours of 8 AM to 4:30 PM each day for the construction of an overhead pipe bridge. Travelers can use LA 3127 or US 90 as alternative routes, with detour signs to guide them through. This spot closure is temporary but will surely impact daily routines.
For the most current and detailed information, residents and drivers can refer to the St. Charles Parish website, which provides updates on the affected locations, detour routes, and anticipated reopening of these key thoroughfares.
