The Central City Recreation Center in Salt Lake County, a longstanding bastion of community and camaraderie, is set to welcome neighbors to its 30th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner. The free event, beloved by many, is scheduled next Tuesday from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at 615 S 300 E, Salt Lake City. It's a long-standing invitation for locals to gather, give thanks, and engage in the time-honored tradition of sharing a hearty meal.
"As we celebrate 30 years of our Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, we're reminded how much this tradition means to our community. It's always been about service, connection, and making sure everyone feels welcome at the table," the staff at the Central City Recreation Center told Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation. It's this spirit of inclusivity and service that has been the event's cornerstone, promising a space where everyone can enjoy the warmth of togetherness.
In collaboration with the culinary experts from Utah Valley University’s (UVU) Culinary Arts Institute, the event's food preparation is a testament to the shared efforts of the local community. The UVU team has been a critical partner for 12 years, meticulously preparing large quantities of holiday favorites to cater to an estimated crowd of 300 people.
"This meal is about more than food. It’s about community," shared Chef Troy Wilson of UVU's Culinary Arts Institute, highlighting the enthusiasm and dedication behind the scenes.
