Over the weekend, Salt Lake City's transit system faced unexpected interruptions due to a water main line break, causing delays and the closure of a TRAX station. The problem originated, as reported by KUTV, just before midnight at 620 South Main Street, with Salt Lake City Public Utilities confirming the impact on two nearby businesses.
Riders were greeted by delays that persisted into Saturday morning. A bus bridge was quickly assembled, running from the Ballpark to Gallivan and Library stations. According to ABC4, "Courthouse will be closed due to the city shutting down the power," and that there would be "no trains running north of 900 S and south of Gallivan and Library." Commuters were advised to expect 15-20 minute delays on all TRAX trains.
The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) worked diligently to manage the disruption and restore normal service. Once the crucial update came, it was by 6 p.m. that UTA announced the power had been restored to the Courthouse area, as per KSL Newsradio. With this progress, normalcy began to return to the TRAX lines.
