In a nod to those who have donned the uniform to serve our country, San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) is gearing up to celebrate Veterans Day uniquely. On Tuesday, SAACS is set to host a special adoption event exclusively for military service members, providing them with an opportunity to adopt a pet for $0. The gesture is part of a one-day special aimed at expressing gratitude towards active duty, retired, and reserve military personnel.

According to the City of San Antonio, the general population hasn't been forgotten and is invited to participate in the holiday spirit as well; SAACS is offering pet adoptions for a nominal $25 fee. In a move designed to fully extend the attendance for this heart-warming occasion, special holiday hours have been set from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the primary SAACS location, which is at 4710 State Highway 151. The first 25 adopters will be walking away not only with a furry friend but with a comped bag of pet food to ease their new pets into their homes.

All of the pets adopted during this event will be sent to their new homes after having been sterilized, vaccinated, and microchipped, with no additional costs pressing upon their new owners. The adoptions are to be operated on a first-come, first-served basis, and service members looking to adopt at no cost must present a valid military ID.
