Breaking news emerged from the Richmond district last month as San Francisco Police Department officers responded to a violent episode involving multiple stabbings. According to an SFPD press release, the disturbance occurred on October 24, around 2:10 AM on the 3900 block of Geary Blvd. When police arrived, they found five individuals who had sustained injuries from what appeared to be a knife attack.
Four of the victims, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, were promptly transported to a local hospital. Suffering from non-life-threatening injuries as well, one victim was attended to on-site by paramedics. The incident escalated from a verbal altercation that took place inside a business, where a suspect later identified as Joncarlo Gutierrez reportedly engaged in a physical confrontation with several individuals, wielding a knife.
32-year-old Gutierrez became the focus of the investigation as authorities pieced together the events of that early morning. An arrest warrant was obtained after his identification, and investigators set up surveillance, which led to his capture near Richland Avenue and Mission Street by plainclothes officers from the Mission District. Gutierrez is now being held at the San Francisco County Jail on his arrest warrant charges.
