The San Francisco Police Department's Marine Unit rescued an elderly woman from the waters off Pier 43 last Saturday. The officers, in the midst of responding to another call, noticed the unresponsive individual in the chilly bay near Jefferson Street and the Embarcadero at approximately 5:32 PM, as reported via a social media update by the San Francisco Police Department.

The marine unit, adept in emergencies, didn't hesitate to enact a rescue for the senior citizen and began providing critical aid before the arrival of paramedics, who then transported her to a local hospital with what were described as life-threatening injuries. Although the events leading up to her oceanic plight remain a mystery, the intervention by the alert SFPD officers likely turned the tide on what could have been a tragedy.
