San Juan County officials are urging the public to aid in the search for Joseph Pachak, a 75-year-old man reported missing after a concerning no-show at multiple gatherings. According to KUTV, Pachak, known for his love of the outdoors, failed to appear at two Thanksgiving dinners and a planned meet-up at Cow Canyon Cafe in the Bluff area.
Pachak was last seen on Tuesday, Nov. 18, described as a Caucasian male with green eyes and balding white hair. He stands at 5 feet 7 inches and weighs 150 pounds. Despite his being a seasoned hiker, his lack of communication regarding his whereabouts is unusual, reports KUTV. In a perplexing move, Pachak did not take his cell phone, wallet, or truck with him, igniting concern from the San Juan County Sheriff's Office.
An immediate search ensued upon the report of his being missing on Thanksgiving evening. "However, it is unusual for him not to inform anyone of his whereabouts," the San Juan County Sheriff's Office reported, according to KUTV. Efforts are being led by Search and Rescue personnel, who are extensively scanning the area last known to have been frequented by Pachak.
The last communication received from Pachak was a text message sent on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Adding to the growing worry, "He did not take his cell phone, wallet, or truck with him," stated the San Juan County Sheriff's Office, as per KSL NewsRadio. Concerned citizens and those who might have insight into Pachak's last known actions are encouraged to immediately contact the sheriff's office at (435)587-2237 with any pertinent information.
The circumstances surrounding Pachak's disappearance remain shrouded in mystery, and authorities are requesting that any personal accounts, including recent photographs, medical conditions, and social media profiles, be shared with law enforcement to assist in the search, noted by ABC4. Officials emphasize that, in Utah, there is no required waiting period to report a missing person and encourage people to take action without delay in such emergencies.
