The Environmental Services Department is rolling out sidewalk improvements along NE 18th Avenue, an effort set to kick off come Monday, November 17. Stretching from Green Road (NW 49th Court) up to NW 48th Terrace, this initiative aims to significantly bolster pedestrian infrastructure in the area.

Specifically, plans are in place to lay down about 800 feet of fresh pavement on the east side of NE 18th Avenue from Green Road. The project is also slated to include a speed table crosswalk to be situated near 4810 NE 18th Avenue, alongside roughly 650 feet of new sidewalk that will connect seamlessly to the existing walkways on the roadway's west side across from Waters Edge Towers. These additions are designed not only to improve foot traffic flow but also to raise the safety quotient for residents and passersby.

Construction activities can be expected to unfold Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The entire operation is expected to extend over a six to eight-week period. "The City appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility in the area," expressed the city's published notice. Community members have been advised to brace for the associated inconveniences these important upgrades will necessitate.
