A 33-year-old woman and a 9-year-old child were seriously injured Monday afternoon after a group attacked them on a sidewalk on Chicago's Far South Side, police said. The pair was struck multiple times in the 10600 block of South Bensley Avenue in the South Deering neighborhood and was taken to area hospitals in serious condition. Authorities said no arrests had been made as detectives continued investigating.
According to WGN-TV, officers told investigators the suspects approached and struck the victims multiple times before taking off. The station reported the attack happened Monday afternoon, and both victims were transported to nearby hospitals listed in serious condition.
