Tragedy beset the city of Concord yesterday when a suspect linked to an armed assault was found dead at his residence on Ward Way. According to the Concord Police Department, officers arrived on the scene following reports of the earlier altercation, which, while it didn't result in any physical injuries, ended with the suspect fleeing before law enforcement could intervene.
The incident initiated at approximately 10:44 AM, when officers arrived at the suspect’s 2600 block Ward Way home and attempted to coax him into a peaceful surrender. Their efforts, recorded by the static of phone calls, the stoicism of text messages, and the blare of announcements via patrol vehicle speakers, all remained unreciprocated. Fled before the officers arrived on scene, the suspect remained dead from a self-inflicted gunshot when they eventually made it inside.
No further details about the suspect’s motives or the circumstances that led to the initial altercation and eventual standoff have been released. The Concord Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident.
