Hours earlier, a man was found shot in the 4800 block of Drummond Street, and neighbors later watched officers haul out bags of evidence from a nearby home and board up a damaged door while investigators combed the scene.
SWAT Team Serves Warrant On Euclid Avenue
The Northwest Regional SWAT Team was called in around 3 p.m. to serve a warrant in the 4700 block of Euclid Avenue, East Chicago police said, according to ABC7 Chicago. Police told the outlet the warrant is connected to a homicide that occurred earlier in the day.

SkyCam 9 footage showed officers surrounding a home near the intersection of East 148th Street and Euclid Avenue, according to WGN-TV. The station noted it was not immediately clear whether the SWAT warrant and the earlier shooting on Drummond Street were part of the same investigation.
Man Found Shot On Drummond Street
East Chicago police said a passerby flagged down officers about 2:30 a.m. after spotting a man with a gunshot wound to the head in the 4800 block of Drummond Street, and medics pronounced him dead at the scene, per Region News Source. The Lake County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force and the Lake County Coroner's Office responded and processed the scene.
Investigation Ongoing, Officials Ask For Tips
Officers told reporters they did not find anyone inside the Euclid Avenue home after serving the warrant and said additional information will be released when it is available, according to ABC7 Chicago. Authorities have not yet identified the victim and are asking anyone with information to contact East Chicago police or the Lake County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force as the search for a suspect continues.
