The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating a fatal encounter involving law enforcement in Marion County, following a Sequatchie County homicide probe that led to a deadly confrontation on Signal Mountain. Johnny Michael Queen, born February 15, 1984, was identified as a person of interest and allegedly refused to surrender when contacted by authorities, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Officers, supported by the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the 12th Judicial Drug Task Force, tracked Queen to Big Fork Road, where he reportedly brandished a firearm, prompting them to open fire. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed, "No law enforcement officers were hurt in the incident."

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is reviewing a recent shooting by collecting facts, evidence, and conducting interviews. "Throughout the process, investigative findings will be shared with the District Attorney General for her review and consideration," Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation does not decide if the officers’ actions were justified; that is up to the District Attorney General. The agency also does not release the officers’ names, leaving that to the department, and directs the public to its newsroom for updates.
