A 17-year-old boy was shot in the mouth while sleeping in his Joliet home early Friday morning, a brutal disturbance that turned what should have been a place of rest into a scene of violence. According to FOX 32 Chicago, the shooting occurred in a bedroom of a residence on the 900 block of Midland Avenue. Police assert that the gunshots were fired from outside the home.
The teen was injured while lying in bed, and he was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center with injuries that were not deemed life-threatening, WGN-TV reported. A man and a girl, also present in the home, were reportedly unharmed. While canvassing the area, law enforcement officials found several spent shell casings.
Details surrounding the motivation and the perpetrator of the shooting remain unclear as Joliet police continue their investigation. Authorities have issued a call for assistance from the public, urging anyone with video or information related to the incident to come forward to aid in the identification and apprehension of the responsible party.
