The three victims, consisting of an adult male, an adult female, and a 16-year-old female, were transported to local hospitals with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
The confrontation that sparked the violence involved two individuals, who evidently led to one pulling a firearm from their waistband and opening fire. According to an SJPD press release, preliminary findings suggest the motive was gang-related, though investigations continue. Unfortunately, during this altercation, two female bystanders were inadvertently hit by stray bullets. In the aftermath, extensive efforts were made not only to clear the mall of any immediate danger but also to ensure the continued safety of the surrounding community systematically.
"A shooting in a crowded mall on a busy shopping day is deeply concerning," conveyed SJPD Chief Paul Joseph, about the holiday shopping chaos turned violent, per the San José Police Department. Jorge Garibay of the San Jose Police Department clarified the scope of the incident: "We can say for a matter of fact that this was not unsuspected shoppers that were targeted, this was an isolated incident with two individuals, and unfortunately two others were injured.
