A recent theft attempt at a Lemon Grove Home Depot has led to the arrest of two men on November 20. According to the San Diego Sheriff's Department, deputies from the Community Oriented Policing and Problem-Solving (COPPS) team were executing a counter-theft operation at the store located on the 7500 block of Broadway when they spotted the individuals walking out with merchandise valued over $1,000 without making a payment.
The two suspects, Alejandro Zuniga and Carlos Escalante, faced immediate action by the deputies. Zuniga, born on July 11, 1995, complied with deputies upon confrontation. However, Escalante, born on August 22, 1985, led law enforcement on a brief chase before being apprehended, as reported by the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
Both suspects are now encountering the legal repercussions of their alleged actions. Zuniga and Escalante were booked into the San Diego Central Jail and are facing felony burglary charges. Further legal complications arise as Zuniga also carries an additional charge of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, while Escalante faces an added charge of having a controlled substance.
