Two women tragically lost their lives in a car accident near Rate Field on Chicago's South Side, as reported on November 3rd, 2025. The crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. Sunday on the 300 block of West 35th Street, according to WGN-TV. Police investigations indicate that a 24-year-old woman lost control of her eastbound red sedan, crossing the median and colliding with an oncoming black SUV.
The fatal event involved the sedan to then be struck by the other vehicle, with details shared from CBS Chicago painting a somber picture of a red sedan flipped upside down amidst scattered debris. The incident, happening just west of the Dan Ryan Expressway, involved a driver and passenger in the SUV, both of whom sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the University of Chicago Hospital for treatment.
On-the-scene treatment by the Chicago Fire Department for trauma to the body was provided to both women in the sedan. Despite the emergency response efforts, they were pronounced dead after being transported to Stroger Hospital. The 21-year-old passenger has been identified as Natalia Andrea Acevedo Mendez, while the driver's identity had not been released at the time of these reports.
