The University of Utah's athletics department, alongside the Crimson Club, is hustling to end the year with a slam dunk, a fundraising campaign aimed to net the equivalent of 50 student-athlete scholarships by December 31. The 2025 Year-End Campaign, which kicked off today, seeks to bulk up the Utah Athletics Excellence Fund, fortifying support for scholarships that give student-athletes a fighting chance to excel academically and athletically across the university's 19 varsity sports.
With the underlying goal to "Make Moments Like This — Building Champions. Impacting Generations," the campaign champions the belief that funding athletes' education can drive their success beyond the sports arena and into real-world game changers. According to UtahUtes.com, Utah Athletics doesn't just talk the talk; it walks the walk, having achieved an impressive Graduation Success Rate of 95 percent in 2024, tying its department record.
Bearing the torch for educational prowess are twelve Utah sports programs, each boasting a perfect 100-percent graduation rate. Particular note was made of the football program, which has apparently beaten its own record by advancing to a 96-percent GSR, running up the academic field as it does the actual one. These rates position Utah Athletics as academia's heavyweight among power conference public institutions, a stat that could persuade potential donors to open their wallets for the sake of intellectual and physical prowess.
