Westfield is charting new territory with a grand vision for its downtown district, and it’s not just any revamp—it's a transformation. According to a recent social media post by the City of Westfield - Government, Mayor Scott Willis, alongside Jenell Fairman and Kevin Todd, shared plans to morph Downtown Westfield into an area characterized by walkable streetscapes and mixed-use developments. The goal is to foster a district with "unique identity and memorable character."
With opportunities open for "owner-occupied headquarters and professional services corporations" and "mixed-use, 4-5 story urban projects with integrated structured parking," the city is rolling out the red carpet for those who company’s portfolio aligns with this vision. But they're not stopping at office spaces. An integral part of this district will be "for-sale, 4-story townhomes and stacked-flat residential products," an announcement shared on the city's Facebook page details.
Setting the bar higher, this vision includes a commitment to green investments and quality outdoor amenities, looking to strike a balance between urban development and environmental consciousness. The planned "architecturally exceptional buildings with intentional green space" underscore a forward-thinking approach to urban planning. A response to the post clarifies, “This is a vision of what can be done and if a land owner chooses to redevelop their property, this is the vision that will need to be followed.” With a call to action to "Build Your Legacy Here," interested parties are prompted to visit the Westfield Economic Development website for more details, featuring contact information to forge the connect with city planners.
