
Shoplifting incidents over the holiday weekend in the Back Bay district of Boston have led to two arrests following prompt action by the Boston Police Department. On November 28, officers from District D-4 responded to a Theft at Dick's Sporting Goods on Boylston Street at approximately 12:20 PM. The suspect, identified as Yeejin Choi, a 20-year-old resident of Boston, reportedly loaded a tennis bag with merchandise earlier in the day and attempted to leave with the items valued at $745 upon their return to the store. According to the official report, Choi was apprehended by officers as they exited the store and is expected to face charges for Larceny Under $1,200 in Boston Municipal Court.
In a separate incident on November 29, D-4 officers were flagged down by staff at the Sunglass Hut in Prudential Mall at about 5:50 PM after a suspect, who had stolen multiple sunglasses was attempting to make their escape with goods totaling approximately $2,492, Mark Busuito, a 39-year-old Boston resident, was stopped by the officers, placed in handcuffs, and the stolen merchandise was recovered, Busuito is facing charges including "Common & Notorious Thief" and "Larceny Over $1,200" following his arraignment in Boston Municipal Court, as per the Boston Police Department website.
These incidents underline the ongoing challenges retailers face with shoplifting and the diligence of local law enforcement in addressing these crimes.
