A recent crime notice from the Chicago Police Department has spotlighted a string of burglaries throughout several neighborhoods, sparking deep concern among local business owners and residents. According to the official alert, burglaries have occurred in the Beverly, Chicago Loop, Kenwood, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Near South Side, Pilsen, and Rogers Park areas, falling within the 1st, 2nd, 12th, 18th, 19th, 22nd, and 24th Police Districts.
Per the alert, a group of unidentified individuals has been using hammers or other blunt objects to break into the front doors of businesses across these neighborhoods. After making an entry, the burglars have stolen US currency, deposit boxes, fire extinguishers, and even poker machines before escaping in a vehicle reported as stolen. The incidents took place in a rapid succession, striking multiple locations in the early hours of December 17 and 20, 2025.
Authorities are on the lookout for 2-4 African American males, believed to be between the ages of 16 and 25, observed wearing black hooded sweatshirts, dark pants, black shoes, black ski masks, and gloves. Citizens have been advised to remain vigilant, to be mindful of individuals who appear suspicious, and not confront the perpetrators, but instead, remain calm and contact law enforcement as soon as it is safe to do so.
The police have encouraged those in the affected vicinities to alert friends and family, and to keep a watchful eye for signs of suspicious behavior. "If you are confronted by an assailant, remain calm," cautions the official statement, underscoring the importance of preserving the crime scene for investigators. In the event of witnessing or falling victim to one of these incidents, the police have requested that the public call 911 immediately and offer as much descriptive information about the offenders and their vehicle as possible. The public's cooperation could prove pivotal in apprehending the suspects and putting an end to this rash of criminal activity.
