
On Christmas Day, a house fire in Dorchester left three people without a home. The Boston Fire Department reported on social media that upon arrival at 699 Washington St., a 2 1/2 story wood-frame house was seen ablaze. A second alarm was called as firefighters battled the fire. According to the social media post, all companies were engaged in controlling the situation.

In the aftermath of the incident, fire companies wrapped up their operations as detail companies prepared the scene for follow-up work. The Boston Fire Department reported in a subsequent social media update that three individuals were displaced by the fire, stating that the '@RedCrossMA & BFD-VAU' are on scene to assist.

The Boston Fire Department also noted that Boston Sparks were present to provide much-needed rehabilitation efforts on a day when temperatures reached 30 degrees. Damage from the fire was estimated at approximately $950,000, though no injuries were reported.
