The City Auditor's Office has updated the registration system for residents who want to speak at City Council meetings. Registration opens at 9:00 a.m. on the Friday before each council session.
According to the City of Portland Auditor's Office, the change aligns public speaker registration with the existing process for testifying on agenda items, replacing the previous system that often required citizens to plan months in advance.
City officials say the update is intended to make it easier for residents to participate in the legislative process and to streamline registration for public speakers.
