At a recent City Council meeting, lead custodian Stephanie Prusynski and student Murphy Stanger of Kirkwood Middle School were presented with Life Saver Certificates by Mayor Joe Pitts.
Their heroism unfolded when Stanger noticed a peer struggling, unable to breathe because of an obstructed airway. Without hesitation, Stanger sought the aid of Prusynski, who performed the Heimlich maneuver, a technique that proved to be lifesaving.
