This incident occurred near the intersection of Davie Road and Reese Road where officers, responding to alerts of a vehicle possessing a stolen license plate, were forced into a perilous chase when their approach prompted the driver to accelerate in a bid for escape, as detailed in a report by Local 10 News.
The confrontation led to the officer sustaining injuries, though not life-threatening, which necessitated hospitalization; as the startled driver thrust their vehicle against the law enforcement personnel, his response came quick and reflexive—gunfire that fortunately missed the occupants in the hasty vehicle, which was stopped later on near Hollywood Boulevard, near the Florida Turnpike, officials from the police department elaborated.
