A fatal crash occurred on I-40 West near Briley Parkway on Sunday, claiming the life of 65-year-old semi-driver Aniceto Trujillo from Denair, California. The collision involved a 2018 Toyota Corolla driven by 18-year-old Mero Abdallah of Mt. Juliet, who reportedly misjudged the exit ramp, causing the tractor-trailer to flip and the Corolla to end up in a ravine, according to the Metro Nashville.
Authorities are still attempting to contact Trujillo’s relatives as the community mourns his sudden passing. Preliminary investigations and video evidence suggest Abdallah’s error on the turn led to the crash, with both vehicles sustaining significant damage, as reported by the Metro Nashville.
Abdallah was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries after a crash that killed Aniceto Trujillo, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that alcohol and drugs were not involved in the accident, as stated by the Metro Nashville.
