An early-morning shooting turned a stretch of E Street in Chula Vista into a crime scene yesterday, leaving a man fighting for his life while the gunman slipped away into the dark, police said.
Officers with the Chula Vista Police Department were called to the 600 block of E Street just after 1:40 AM, where they found a 31-year-old man from San Diego suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, and officials have not yet released his name so family members can be notified, according to NBC 7 San Diego.
Police Say Shooting Was Targeted, Suspect Still Missing
Investigators do not believe the shooting was random, which suggests someone may have been specifically targeted on that block of E Street. The suspected shooter took off before officers arrived and was still on the loose Sunday, as reported by FOX 5 San Diego. Police have not released a description of the suspect.
