While residents might be eager to shuffleboard their way into the new year at the City of Forest Park Senior Center, they'll have to postpone their plans until mid-January. Recent updates shared by the City of Forest Park, Ohio, Local Government on social media confirm that the center will take a brief hiatus to receive a facelift with renovations scheduled between December 22 and January 11, 2026. During this time, the beloved hub where seniors converge for a gamut of activities will be closed to the public.
The makeover includes installing new flooring and fresh coats of paint for the interior. It's the latest in a series of upgrades the Senior Center has undergone, with enhancements like new audio/visual equipment, spruced-up kitchen and bathroom cabinets, shiny new appliances, and an exterior that received a new tint of paint, all of which were completed by October. However, with these improvements, all senior programming is cancelled until work is completed.
Alerting to the temporary closure, city officials expressed their gratitude for the community's patience. "We appreciate your patience as we continue to invest in these improvements and look forward to welcoming everyone back to a refreshed space," they assured, as per the City of The Forest, Ohio, Local Government. The center, serving as a nexus for social engagement and educational programming, underscores Forest Park's commitment to fostering an inclusive and active environment for its senior residents.
Upon completion of the refurbishments, normal activities and programming will resume on January 12, 2026.
