
The recent water main repair that had been causing detours and delays is now complete. As reported by the City of Fort Lauderdale, the asphalt restoration at the intersection of State Road 84 and Miami Road, including the Port Everglades Bypass Road, finished overnight, allowing for the reopening of roads that were previously closed to traffic.
According to an update from the city, the work was performed in the late hours to minimize to disrupt the daily commutes of thousands. As of this morning at 7:06 a.m., westbound State Road 84 at Miami Road and the Port Everglades Bypass Road have been declared open. The city expressed gratitude for the patience of residents and drivers throughout the duration of the necessary repairs.
Yesterday, residents were cautioned about the pending road closures which were instituted starting at 11 p.m. Westbound traffic on State Road 84 was directed to take a detour via SE 17th Street and US 1, also known as the Federal Highway, while crews worked diligently through the night to lay down fresh asphalt and ensure the thoroughfare was restored to its full capacity.
