A recent two-vehicle collision in North Miami has resulted in serious injuries for four individuals, one of whom was airlifted due to the severity of their condition. The accident, which occurred yesterday afternoon near Northwest 10th Avenue and 125th Street, culminated with a car breaching the fence of a residence, according to 7News. The extreme force of the impact sent four people to the hospital, three by ground to Jackson Ryder Trauma Center and one airlifted to Aventura Hospital, as reported by CBS News Miami.
Driving his normal route, bus driver Ronnie McClendon narrowly avoided being a part of the collision. Before the crash happened seconds before the impact, one of the cars sped around his bus, as McClendon recounted to CBS News Miami, "When I looked up again, it was bam! Just that fast." The incident, which tore through the fence of homeowner Louis Lubin, left him and other residents deeply shaken; Lubin himself expressed frustration with repeated crashes near his home, despite his efforts to enhance neighborhood safety by fighting the city to upgrade from two to four stop signs.
Chopper 4 captured the immediate aftermath of the crash, showing the crumbled fence and the vehicle's final resting place within the yard of the Lubin residence. "I was in the living room watching TV. And I heard a boom, and I looked out the window, and I see the car parked right there inside my yard," Lubin described to CBS News Miami. This is not the first time a vehicle has encroached on his property; Lubin mentioned past incidents, highlighting an ongoing concern for safety in the neighborhood.
While the condition of the hospitalized individuals remains undisclosed, area resident Neska, who was also in shock, expressed relief to 7News saying, "I’m just happy that everybody, though at the end of the day, made it to the hospital and they’re still breathing." The North Miami Police have not released specifics on what may have led up to the crash as investigations continue. Tow trucks were seen removing both vehicles involved in the incident, as authorities work to piece together the circumstances of this startling event.
