A dramatic scene unfolded yesterday when two women were rescued from a sinking truck in the Miami River. According to Local 10 News, the vehicle lost control and ended up in the water along Northwest 18th Terrace and 24th Court. Boat captain Mauricio Florez, who witnessed the event, initially thought there had been an explosion. Florez recounted, "It was a crazy situation for us because we’re normally used to seeing boats in the marina, not cars sinking."

Two courageous individuals quickly jumped into action to help the trapped women. Rafael Valdez, identified as one of the good Samaritans, managed to cut through the airbag, allowing others to pull the driver out to safety. According to Florez, "They were inside trapped for the big bag of air and with seatbelt." These timely efforts were instrumental in ensuring both women, reported to be city employees, escaped without injury. "The most important thing is they are alive," Florez told Local 10 News.

Additional details about the incident were confirmed by surveillance footage and recounted by Florez in an interview with NBC6 Miami. The video captured the vehicle crashing through the marina fence, hitting a boat, and finally plunging into the water. Florez was preparing for a birthday party sail when he heard the crash and sprang to aid, tossing a life vest to the victims and the man who dived in to rescue them. Despite the initial shock, the women appeared uninjured. "They were trapped because of the airbags," Florez described.

The vehicle, identified as belonging to the City of Miami's waste management department, stirred immediate concern for the personnel's well-being. No statement has been released by the city regarding the accident or the condition of the women involved. "It was like an insane situation for me," Florez told NBC6 Miami.
