The Honolulu Police Department has released a new update on the recent fatal shooting that rocked the Hālawa housing community. According to a post on the official Honolulu Police Department Facebook page, three suspects dressed in black with face coverings are believed to be involved in the incident, which took place on Salt Lake Boulevard and Kamehameha Highway. The update, which was published on Friday, details how the suspects exited a light-colored, four-door car and opened fire, shooting the victim multiple times as he fled towards the housing complex. One suspect wielded a handgun, another carried a long gun, and the third was also armed with a handgun.
The suspects were last seen driving away from the scene on Salt Lake Boulevard in the direction of Aloha Stadium, Honolulu Police Department mentioned. They continue to urge the community for support, asking anyone with information to step forward and call 911 or CrimeStoppers at (808) 955-8300. This plea extends to eyewitnesses and residents who may have security camera footage that could aid in the investigation.
Earlier reports from the night of the tragedy, as documented by the Hoodline, noted that the shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, resulting in a man being shot multiple times. Emergency services hustled to transport the victim to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Additionally, an incident of reckless endangerment on Kohomua Street, believed to be related, was reported the same night. The assailants are thought to have fled in a black vehicle, though at the moment, no arrests have been made or suspects identified.
