An officer-involved shooting that occurred near Wilsonville has prompted an investigation led by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office. The event unfolded on Friday evening, when deputies, contracted to the Wilsonville Police Department, responded to reports of a domestic disturbance involving a moving vehicle. The incident took place near SW Stafford Road and SW 65th Avenue in unincorporated Clackamas County around 5:45 pm, as reported by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a Facebook post by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, the deputies located the vehicle in question and, after it had stopped, were confronted by the sole occupant who charged them with an ax. This led to the deputies discharging their firearms. The suspect was critically wounded in the altercation but no deputies sustained injuries during the incident.
Post-shooting, the deputies involved initiated lifesaving measures and continued to provide aid until paramedics from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVFR) arrived at the scene. The individual was then transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Both deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure following such incidents, as detailed by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation into the shooting is being conducted by the Clackamas County Interagency Major Crimes Team with assistance from detectives from the Lake Oswego and West Linn Police Departments, as well as support from Canby and Milwaukie Police detectives.
