The La Vergne Police Department recently celebrated a career milestone for four of their officers, announcing their promotion to roles as Field Training Officers (FTOs). The department shared the news via a social media post, naming Officer Scott, Officer Cummings, Officer Bell, and Officer Arenas as the latest additions to the FTO team. According to the post, assuming this role within the department is "a significant milestone in an officer’s career."
As Field Training Officers, these individuals will be responsible for mentoring newcomers to the force. La Vergne PD emphasized the importance an FTO plays in policing, stating that they "must demonstrate strong leadership, sound decision-making, patience, and professionalism every single shift." However, the post also noted the weight of the FTO's responsibilities, as these officers are charged with setting the standard for what it means to wear the La Vergne badge.
Celebrating their dedication to service, La Vergne PD expressed their pride in the officers for earning the opportunity to help shape the future of the department. "Their dedication to excellence and service represents exactly what the La Vergne Police Department stands for," as announced on their official Facebook page. The department encouraged the community to join in congratulating the new FTOs, wishing them success as they take on this challenging yet vital role.
