While many were at home giving thanks with loved ones, the law enforcement officers of La Vergne were still hard at work, leading to a significant DUI and drug bust on Thanksgiving Day. In a Facebook post, the La Vergne Police Department reported that Officer Gad pulled over a vehicle for illegal window tint on Murfreesboro Road. The traffic stop swiftly turned into a drug-related arrest after the driver exhibited signs of impairment.
According to the Facebook post by La Vergne Police Department, the officers' suspicions were confirmed when they observed several small baggies in the vehicle, immediately visible upon the driver's exit. On the driver, an amount of cash totalling $1,532.00 was found, which when coupled with the baggies, suggested illegal activity.
The subsequent search resulted in the discovery of 52.2 grams of cocaine packed in multiple baggies, along with additional empty ones, a digital scale hinting at distribution, and the aforementioned cash. These findings led to the driver facing multiple charges, including DUI, felony possession of Schedule II drugs (specifically cocaine), drug paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence, as reported by the La Vergne Police Department.
As part of the investigation, authorities confiscated both the truck and cash involved in the incident. The La Vergne Police Department emphasized their unwavering commitment to community safety, stating, "La Vergne Police Officers continue to stay vigilant, day or night, holiday or not, to help keep our community safe."
