La Vergne Police Department officers conducted a notable drug bust following a traffic stop for reckless driving late Saturday night. According to WSMV, the traffic stop occurred when a vehicle was observed speeding at approximately 75 miles per hour on Murfreesboro Road at around 10:36 p.m. The vehicle was promptly stopped on Dick Buchanan Street, where the situation escalated.
Upon the arrival of additional law enforcement, officers detected the smell of marijuana and alcohol, which led to a "probable cause search" of the vehicle. WKRN reported that the search uncovered a variety of illegal substances, including over 100 grams of marijuana, crushed oxycodone, THC wax, ecstasy, and Adderall. Additionally, authorities found brass knuckles and a digital scale in the vehicle.
The driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested on multiple charges. The charges include felony evading, reckless driving, felony possession of Schedule I, II, and VI controlled substances, prohibited weapons, and drug paraphernalia, as detailed in the WGNS Radio report.
