In a sobering reminder of the dangers lurking in online spaces, the Lehi City Police Department has disclosed a recent case involving a 65-year-old male targeting a minor. An undercover investigation by the Special Victims Unit (SVU) and Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force revealed sexually explicit conversations between the suspect and a person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. "During the conversation, the male sent a picture of his genitals and also asked the child to send him nude photos of herself," detailed the post revealed by the Lehi City Police Department.

The investigation took a turn when the suspect proceeded to explain in detail the sexual activities he wished to engage in with the presumed child. He discussed plans for a meeting purportedly to carry out these intended acts. On November 20th, the evidence collated allowed SVU/ICAC investigators to apprehend the individual and to book him into the Utah County Jail on multiple felony charges, including Attempted Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Enticement of a Minor, and Dealing in Harmful Materials to a Minor.

Furthermore, the department spotlighted an additional case that had gone unreported on their social channels. The arrest, dating back to August 2025, involved a 46-year-old male, also caught in an undercover chat operation by the SVU/ICAC. This individual, according to the Lehi City Police Department, held a position of trust as a school counselor and engaged in a chat with someone he believed to be a 17-year-old girl, discussing sexually explicit content and expressing a desire to impregnate the minor.

The male suspect later ceased the conversation and deleted the messages, but the severity of his statements and his employment in an environment with access to real minors led investigators to justifiably decide to take immediate custodial action. The former counselor was arrested and charged with Enticing a Minor, a Class A Misdemeanor. "It is our understanding that the individual is no longer employed by the education facility where they were working at the time of his arrest," added the Lehi City Police Department in their social media post.
