Chaos erupted in Lakeside yesterday as gunfire broke out near the intersection of Ashwood St. and Mapleview St., prompting a swift response from the San Diego County Sheriff's Deputies. The shooting, reported at approximately 3:21 PM, left a 22-year-old male wounded in the leg, though fortunately with non-life-threatening injuries. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, the victim was quickly transported to the hospital, receiving treatment before his release mere hours later.
Witness accounts, as deputies were informed, painted the flight of three individuals immediately after the shots were fired, described as Hispanic male adults, whose steps hurried away from the scene. Despite their considerable efforts, which entailed an extensive search that covered nearby vicinities, deputies were unable to locate these suspects. The circumstances that led to the shooting remain enshrouded in the fog of ongoing investigations.
