Memphis police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred Friday night near Elmwood Cemetery, a South Memphis neighborhood; as reported by Action News 5, officers responded to the incident on East Alston Avenue near Porter Street at approximately 6:20 p.m. where a man was found deceased.
Adding to the grim tally of the night's events, the same area of College Park on E. Alston Ave was the scene of another deadly encounter, as noted by FOX13 Memphis, which left one man dead with the suspect still at large, the Memphis Police Department has yet to apprehend any suspects nor have they provided specific details regarding the suspect's identity.
Simultaneously, the Soulsville neighborhood was a tableau of investigative fervency as captured by WREG, which reported a large contingency of police officers and task force agents canvassing the 800 block of E. Alston Avenue at around 6:30 p.m., a mere ten minutes after the initial incident, though they did not uncover the nexus of the shooting nor the identity of the victim.
