The streets of Memphis witnessed the relentless pursuit of safety by the Memphis Safe Task Force as they apprehended two individuals following a brief but intense chase. Lakeva Anderson, 20, and Eddie Scott, 18, found themselves facing a litany of felony charges as reported by the U.S. Marshals Service. Charges include possession of firearms during the commission of a dangerous felony, possession of forbidden weapons, evading arrest, and possession with intent to manufacture/deliver/sell controlled substances such as marijuana, ecstasy, and oxycodone, along with drug paraphernalia.
In recent actions that unfolded on the evening of December 15, the Task Force attempted to halt a vehicle on Denver Street and Lauretta Avenue. Upon their approach, four occupants fled the scene, spurred into the treacherous game of hide and seek with the law. It was not long before law enforcement detained two of the crew, with the other half remaining at large. A loaded firearm was discovered in the vehicle, while a secondary search yielded an additional weapon, drugs in multiple assortments, and drug paraphernalia inside a nearby backpack.
The Memphis Safe Task Force, known for its unyielding dedication to combating violent crime and fostering security in local communities, once again sends a clear message with these arrests. According to the U.S. Marshals Service, United States Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee, Tyreece Miller, emphasized the collaborative effort, saying, "The success of the Memphis Safe Task Force is built on collaboration." He further stated, "When offenders run, they quickly learn there is no escaping the Memphis Safe Task Force. By working side‑by‑side with our local, state, and federal partners, we aggressively pursue crime, remove guns and drugs from our streets, and protect the people of Memphis."
