A Mesa woman is currently being held on charges of attempted murder after police say she slashed her boyfriend's throat on Thanksgiving Day. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the incident took place just after 8 p.m. at an apartment complex on South Country Club Drive. The suspect, 52-year-old Tamala Rudeseal, reportedly called police herself, informing them that she "had slashed someone's throat."
Upon their arrival, Mesa Police quickly detained Rudeseal and were able to quickly rush the victim to a nearby hospital, where emergency surgery was performed. The victim, her boyfriend of 11 years, whose identity has yet to be released by authorities, is expected to survive the attack. The source did not state what possibly could have led to the violent altercation.
In a report by ABC15, officials emphasized the charges against Rudeseal, which include attempted murder and aggravated assault. The location of the incident was further specified to be near the intersection of Broadway Road and Country Club Drive. While the details around the motive for the attack remain unclear, the charges suggest a degree of premeditation or intent behind Rudeseal's actions.
The Mesa Police Department has yet to publicly disclose further details of what might have precipitated the attack. The victim, currently recovering from the life-threatening injury, has so far not been publicly identified. Court dates and further legal proceedings for Rudeseal are expected to be announced as the investigation continues.
