Miami's getting ready for the holiday season, and part of that preparation is knowing when public services are taking a break. The Miami-Dade Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) has announced its Christmas Day schedule. Garbage collection scheduled for Thursday, December 25, will be postponed due to the holiday. Services for affected customers will resume on Monday, December 29, as stated in the county's press release.

Recycling collection will also be paused on Christmas Day. Customers normally scheduled for December 25 should place their blue carts at the curb by 7 a.m. on Saturday, December 27. Only recycling will be collected on that day.

DSWM facilities will also close for Christmas Day, including all Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers, North and South Dade Landfills, Central, West, and Northeast Regional Transfer Stations, all Home Chemical Collection Centers, and DSWM Administrative Offices. WM, Inc.’s Medley Landfill will close early at 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day. Residents planning last-minute waste disposal should adjust accordingly. For more information on holiday schedules or other waste management questions, call 311 or visit the DSWM website.
