Miami is preparing to celebrate New Year’s Eve with the iconic Neon Big Orange outside the InterContinental Miami Hotel. The LED sculpture, standing 35 feet tall and weighing 2,000 pounds, marks its 40th anniversary this year, NBC Miami reported.

Creator Steve Carpenter of Mr. Neon told WSVN that the installation is carefully prepared to ensure it rises at midnight without issues. This year’s Big Orange features upgraded lighting effects, and early installation allows any technical problems to be addressed before the countdown.

Miami’s New Year’s Eve celebration attracts over 100,000 people and includes entertainment, food trucks, and family activities. Carpenter will also be honored by Miami’s new mayor, Eileen Higgins, who will present him with a key to the city, WSVN reported.
