The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a wind advisory early this morning, cautioning residents about strong gusts that could disrupt their day. The advisory remains in effect until 6 AM CST, warning of northwest winds ranging from 15 to 20 mph, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph. The NWS reports that these conditions are expected across a substantial portion of Middle Tennessee.
In statements obtained by the National Weather Service in Nashville, they advise that "gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result. Driving can be challenging, especially for those navigating high-profile vehicles, which suggests added caution on the roads. While Stewart, Montgomery, Robertson, Sumner, and other surrounding areas all feel the brunt of these winds, daily life in these communities is likely to be affected, with the unsecured debris flying around due to the wind.
Aside from these immediate measures, the detailed NWS forecast for Nashville and neighboring locales provides some solace with its prediction of a gradual easing of the winds and a return to more stable weather conditions. Today's outlook points to sunny skies, with highs lingering near 36°F, and wind speeds decreasing to about 5 to 10 mph overnight. The forecast holds that the rest of the week will bring a mix of sunny and partly cloudy days, and temperatures rising to near 50°F by New Year's Day.
However, with New Year's Day approaching, those making plans should keep the weather in mind, particularly due to the possibility of showers predicted later in the week. Friday might bring about a 40 percent chance of showers, stepping up to a 50 percent chance on Friday night. "A 20 percent chance of showers" is mentioned for Saturday, hinting that the festivities may have a bit of dampness, as stated by NWS. But the skies are expected to clear up again by Sunday, promising sunny weather to end the week.
