A tragic hit-and-run incident on Nolensville Pike resulted in the death of a 31-year-old cyclist, Blaise Schaeffer, from Nolensville. According to FOX 17, the accident occurred late on Dec. 10 near the intersection with Burkitt Road. Reports suggest that a blue Honda Civic struck the cyclist who was later pronounced dead at TriStar Nolensville Hospital.
Investigators say a male was driving a Honda with a female passenger; the car was later found disabled at Nolensville Pike and Concord Hills Drive. The driver fled on foot, and only the passenger has been located and questioned. Authorities said the driver had been speeding and driving erratically; an officer attempted a stop earlier but did not pursue into Davidson County, according to WKRN.
Metro Nashville Police are pursuing leads to find the driver. The suspect, believed to be armed, crashed into a culvert while evading another vehicle, prompting a police alert. Authorities found the female passenger at a nearby Taco Bell, according to WSMV.
