On the morning of December 20th, MSS distributed food boxes filled with holiday food items and additional sustenance to last families 1-3 weeks, depending on their size. The event, hosted in the parking lot of 3055 Lebanon Pike, also saw 300 jumbo-sized red bags packed with toys and bicycles given to children in need. This year's giveaway, as reported by a statement released by Metro Social Services, follows a similar Thanksgiving initiative that aided nearly 300 recipients with food boxes.
Clients who are part of MSS's case management system and facing challenges in providing for their families were invited to register for the giveaway. These families provided details such as family size and their children's interests to streamline the gift selection process. During the event, participants were greeted by volunteers, aptly dubbed Santa's elves, who offered treats and helped load gifts and food boxes into the attendees' vehicles. The cheerful event even included opportunities for attendees to capture holiday memories with photo sessions alongside "The Santas."
